She is Outta There

Well, Its official. Shereen has resigned her position at Mercer HR Consulting. Her last day will be either April 11 or 12. That depends on the vacation and floating holiday stuff. She is going to take 2 weeks off and then start her new job at BlueCross BlueShied of Minnesota. No more driving to downtown Minneapolis, but now she has to drive to Eagan. 35E is much better then 35W. The hours are better. As with all consulting jobs, the hours can get a little long. Her new job should be only 40-45 hours a week. We are very excited about the new job.

Computers for Kids Workday - WOW

On Saturday, I had a Computers for Kids workday in my basement. Here is a little wrapup on what happened. Five volunteers and my self worked for a total of 32.5 hours. We took apart 36 computers, checked in 7 donations, prepped 1.5 computers for placement, tested computer parts, prepped items for sale and sorted way to many parts. It was a great day.

Now, I have to get items listed on eBay, finnish testing parts, load more computers. I have three or four trips to the recycler, and five lawn bags full of garbage.

The Computers for Kids program provides computers to families that are unable to purchase a computer for their child(ren). It is our hope that these computers will help students with their school work.

Thanks to everyone that helped out.

You asked for it....

Can I get a nose transplant? Anika has started babyfood. We are currently on Sweet Peas. When she gets done with them, they really stink. Makes my eyes water.

For some reason, Anika has been screatching today. Top of her lungs. Headache!!!

For all the smells, sounds, headachs, back pains, etc. I would not trade them for anything. Being a parent is the most wonderful thing in the world. There is nothing like the look of happiness from a baby when you go to get them out of their crib.

I think we are going to the zoo next Thursday, Anyone want to go with?

How busy can we get?

I can't believe how busy I am this week. Two major clients have projects due this week. I have people coming over on Saturday to work on computers for the Computers for Kids program that I am the director. We will be tearing apart computer, reloading others, testing computers, inventory, and a whole lot more. If you want to kill a few hours, let me know, I can always use the help.

My office is a mess. We had to move a lot of stuff in the basement because we started fininshing it. My new office right now has all the old insulation removed from the walls, the electrical wiring has been installed. I have about half of the network and video cables pulled and my contactor wants to start drywalling on Monday. If all goes well, I could move into my new office in two-three weeks. YEAH! I hope I can get the painting and staining done. ARRG.

Ever feel that you will never get your head above water? Someone send down an air tank, please.

Have a great day,
Dean

New Tech Blog

What a week. Paul has been commenting on how I don't have a blog. You should have a blog. You need to get a blog. Well.....Now I have two. This one (my personal blog) and my company one (http://blog.mysmbc.com). If you are interested in general tech topics, I post them to the company blog. If I find something that might benefit one of my customers, I will post it there. You are free to take a look at it. It was very interesting getting WordPress installed on my server. It took a few phone calls, and lots of emails to get it up and running. We had to switch servers, create a subdomain, create ftp accounts, install software, update main site, configure wordpress and then roll it out. I would be interested in any comments on the site.

Babysitting?

Strange thing happened last Thursday. I stopped by Caribou Coffee on my way to bell practice to get my usual Large Vanilla Mocha. One person rings me up and the other girl turns and looks at me with Andrew and Anika. She asks "Are you babysitting tonight?" I turned to her and just said "No" and went over to a table and sat down.

Babysitting? WTF. Its called PARENTING!

GRRRRRRRR.
