MS Walk Recap

Here is how our walk went....

We arrived in Marshall a little after 10 am for checkin. It was cool and very windy. We unloaded the truck, kids, stuff and went to checkin. Mom and Dad both had scooters. Dad because he has to use a scooter and Mom because they are trying to sell the older one. We checked in, got our tshirts, and turned in our money. Mom and Dad turned in $4080 and we turned in $650. (Thanks to everyone who made a contribution) With Andrew and Anika loaded in the wagon, we started our walk. Five miles pulling the wagon. Anikia slept for about half the trip. Andrew loved looking at all the different things along the way. There were many bumps. At the 2 mile mark, they had a rest stop setup with snacks and beverages.

We were done with the walk about noon. Then we went to Perkins for Brunch.

My feet are still sore from walking, but we had a great time.

The MS Walk Weekend

The rest of the family and I are getting ready for the MS Walk this weekend. We will be joining my Mom and Dad in Marshall, MN for the walk. Five miles. I have not walked five miles at one time in over a year. I'm so glad there are rest stops along the way. If we get really tired we can all pile on dads scooter and he can drive us to the finish line.

For those that don't know, my father has had Multiple Sclerosis for many years. His type is the Primary Progressive. That means there are no remissions. He has it all the time. Right now he has lost the use of his left leg completely and most of the use of his right. He moves around with the help of a scooter and power wheelchair. I am constantly amazed at his attitude. No matter what is happening, he does not let it get in his way. Sure, there are things he will never be able to do again, but there are new and different ways to do everything.

Wish us luck and if you want to pledge here is a link to Andrew's Walk Homepage:
