Anika is Home

It has been a rough weekend. Saturday evening after going out to Red Lobster for dinner, we stopped at Super Target to do a little shopping. Anika feel out of her carseat from on top of a shopping cart and landed on her head. We took her to the emergency room in Wyoming, MN where they discovered a skull fracture. She was admitted to the Fairview/University of Minnesota Children's Hospital for observations. She was released Monday about noon.

She is fine. Everything is ok. There is nothing wrong with her. She has a few brusies and a new bump on her head. All indications are that she will not have any ill effects from the fall.

Shereen and I stayed with her in the hospital the first night. Shereen's sister and brother-in-law stayed with Andrew at our house. Shereen's dad took over the baby sitting job Sunday afternoon. Shereen went home Sunday evening to stay with Andrew and I stayed at the hospital with Anika until she was discharged. Shereen's dad was back watching Andrew Monday morning until we came home.

Anika charmed the socks off everyone at the hospital. Her bright giggles and pssst amused the nurses. Ankia enjoyed the new experience and really loved looking at all the decorations and pictures on the walls.

A special thanks to the emergency room staff at Fairview Lakes Regional Hospital in Wyoming, MN and the entire staff on 5B at the Fairview University Children's Hospital. Everyone was wonderful to work with and they really cared about everyone.

  • I am glad to hear our little one is doing well... maybe she doesn't take to SuperTarget as well as Andrew did... jumping the cart and all. See you soon.

  • I'm so glad she's okay! My money says she grows up to be an olympic high diver.
